Burning Man 2023

The Man, a 40-foot wooden effigy and the symbolic heart of the Burning Man festival, stands eerily reflected in pools of water and mud across the Black Rock Desert. Following an unprecedented storm during the 2023 event, over half an inch of rain fell within 24 hours—transforming the normally bone-dry playa into a surreal, mirrored landscape. Stranded vehicles, soaked camps, and silent moments replaced the usual dust and fire, offering a haunting yet beautiful twist on a celebration of impermanence, community, and radical self-expression.
